House of Representatives Queries JAMB Over Imbalanced Employment Practices

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB), Prof Ishaq Oloyede, underwent questioning by the House of Representatives committee tasked with investigating employment irregularities in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as the mismanagement of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS). The committee sought clarification from Prof Ishaq Oloyede regarding the alleged imbalance in the agency’s employment procedures.

During the committee’s inquiry, the Registrar of JAMB faced questioning, as the committee sought answers about the reported imbalance in the agency’s hiring practices. The House probe panel explicitly requested that JAMB promptly furnish them with a comprehensive list of all personnel recruited from 2015 to 2023. The committee expressed dissatisfaction with the agency’s apparent disregard for the established regulations of the nation’s public service. It came to light that JAMB had employed 300 individuals during the stated period without adhering to proper advertising procedures.

The Chairman of the Adhoc committee, Honorable Yussuf Gagdi, highlighted that the employment records suggest that JAMB has disadvantaged numerous Nigerian citizens through their hiring practices.
